Description
These days you will see these galvanised tubs repurposed and used as garden planters, however; this is actually an early washing machine or better known as a Dolly Tub. The tubs used to be filled with water, soap and clothes then agitated with a wooden “Dolly peg” which looked like a small 5 legged stool with a long handle. The ribbed siding of the tub aided in the agitation of the laundry and helped clean your clothes or linen.
This tub has some signs of rusting on the bottom but no holes.
