Building a mood board of Gas Cans?

Description

Ellis & Co oil can in good condition with a little rusting adding to the vintage look.

This is an usual vintage 1920’s Oil can.  Heavy duty metal.

1843 – George D. Ellis & Sons Inc., manufacturer of speciality metal containers, established in Philadelphia, PA.

Post 1900 — George D. Ellis & Sons, Inc. becomes Ellisco, Inc., and continues manufacturing metal containers in Philadelphia and the surrounding region.

This is a sturdy can to hold 5 Liquid US Gallons, to transport oil and gas to depots.  The can is ridged all around and has its lid and two handles.  To the front of the can is embossed G.R.GO. There are two metal labels on the shoulder of the can. One gives the States where it has been approved for use i.e. Mass, New Jersey, Minnesota, New York City, North Carolina, Alabama and of course Pennsylvania.  The other is the company name tag Ellisco Inc..  Embossed on the cap is the company name and instructions to twist to open and close.  Chain attachment to lid is still in place. Solid bottom still sound.  There is considerable ageing to the can.  The original white paint can still be seen but about 50% loss.  The can is in its “as found” state.  No attempt has been made to clean it up, we like it as it is.
